The sheriff’s office of Brewster County, Texas, issued a call for witnesses regarding Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès, who is suspected of killing his wife and four children in Nantes in 2011.
Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès’s name resurfaces in the United States. At a great distance from France, the sheriff’s office in Brewster County, Texas, launched a witness appeal on Wednesday, March 25, as reported by BFMTV. The appeal was published on social media and includes several photos of the man suspected of killing his family members in Nantes in 2011.
“If you recognize this person or have any information, please call us at 432-837-3488 or dial 911 in case of emergency,” said the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office. “Xavier was reportedly seen in 2020 in the southern part of Brewster County, accompanied by a black labrador,” it added, fifteen years after Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès went missing.
When contacted by BFMTV, local authorities did not respond to the television channel’s requests.
“It was the dream of his life to go to the United States.”
The witness appeal echoes the various speculations about Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès’s disappearance. Gilles Galloux, a former investigator and author of “Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès, un flic au cœur de l’affaire,” published in February, had expressed his belief at the beginning of the year that the man had disappeared in the United States. “It was the dream of his life to go to the United States,” emphasized the former police officer to BFMTV.
However, this theory is contested by French investigators, as highlighted by Le Parisien, who have never established a tangible trace of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès since his disappearance in April 2011 in southern France. The hypothesis of suicide is also being considered by the justice system.
Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès is the main suspect in the murder of his wife and four children. Their bodies were found buried under the terrace of the family home in Nantes on April 21, 2011.
