A new disturbance expected in the region. A new snowstorm threatens the east coast of the United States, with more than 30 cm of snow expected in some areas including New York starting on Sunday, according to meteorological authorities.
After a violent winter storm at the end of January, major cities in the northeast of the United States such as New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and the capital Washington are bracing for new snowfall and powerful winds.
“Between 30 and 60 centimeters” of accumulated snow could fall in Boston, warned the National Weather Service (NWS). Travel conditions could become “almost impossible” due to the snow in certain portions of the east coast, it warned, also mentioning the risk of power outages.

Flooding is also expected in Delaware and New Jersey. In New York, authorities and residents are preparing for a violent storm on Saturday.
“We are now expecting between 33 and 43 centimeters of snow,” said New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani at a press briefing on Saturday, while warning that it was possible for the snow to reach “50 cm or even more.”
“I urge all New Yorkers to stay at home and avoid taking the road,” he declared, adding that travel on Monday morning would be “extremely dangerous.”
A strong winter storm had already swept through the region at the end of January, causing over 100 deaths according to authorities.
