The billionaire insulted the Paris prosecutor after reports of manipulation suspicions to boost X and xAI, amid controversy over deepfakes generated by his Grok AI.
Elon Musk, the billionaire, called the Paris prosecutor’s office “mental retards” after they reported to US authorities a possible “artificial valuation” of the social network X and the AI startup xAI, both owned by him.
“They are mental retards,” he said in French in response to an AFP article about this report.
“The controversy surrounding sexually explicit deepfakes generated by Grok (X’s AI agent) may have been deliberately orchestrated to artificially boost the companies X and xAI,” with the aim of “the planned IPO in June 2026 of the new entity resulting from the merger between SpaceX and xAI, at a time when X was clearly losing momentum,” the prosecutor explained to AFP on Saturday.
