Iran: Parliament President demands ceasefire in Lebanon before any negotiations

The President of the Iranian Parliament on Friday demanded a ceasefire in Lebanon and the freezing of his country’s assets before any peace negotiations with the United States. Discussions are planned in Pakistan between Iran and the United States, with Vice President JD Vance expected in Islamabad on Saturday.

According to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, “Two of the agreed measures must still be implemented: a ceasefire in Lebanon and the freezing of Iran’s assets, before negotiations begin.”

Stellantis cuts 650 engineering jobs at Opel in Germany

Stellantis announced on Friday the elimination of 650 engineering jobs at its Opel research and development site in Rüsselsheim, Germany, out of a total of 1650 currently, while investing in Sochaux.

The restructuring of this R&D site, dedicated to the development of vehicles for the Opel and Vauxhall brands as well as cross-cutting technologies within the group, aims to “strengthen Germany’s competitiveness”, according to Stellantis.

Oil leak in Antwerp, maritime traffic partially halted

The Port of Antwerp, where traffic has been largely suspended due to pollution of the Scheldt River from an oil leak, hopes for a return to normal activities within “24 hours”, as stated by a spokesperson to AFP. “We hope that the port will be fully operational within 24 hours,” said the spokesperson from the operating company, Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

Funding to deploy innovative projects in hospitals

The Minister of Health, Stéphanie Rist, announced a funding of 20 million euros to facilitate the deployment of innovations in hospitals and medical-social establishments through public procurement. Through a call for projects, healthcare institutions are invited to propose the purchase of innovations already available on the market but underutilized and addressing specific needs identified by the institution.

6.1 million euro fine for Carrefour’s purchasing center

Carrefour’s purchasing center, Eureca Mayoristas, has been fined 6.1 million euros for missing the deadline in commercial negotiations with its French suppliers, announced the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control on Friday. They noted “19 breaches of its obligation to sign agreements with its French suppliers no later than March 1, 2025.”

Sodexo has revised its outlook for 2025-2026 downwards after a 56.7% drop in net profit in the first half of its fiscal year, to 188 million euros. In early trading on the Paris Stock Exchange, the stock plummeted by 18.94% to 35.94 euros, in a balanced market.
