First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, vehemently denied any connection to the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday, a scandal that her husband, President Donald Trump, has long downplayed. “The lies linking me to the despicable character that is Jeffrey Epstein must stop today,” Melania Trump declared in front of the cameras, during a surprise appearance at the White House.
“The people who lie about me are devoid of any ethics, humility, and respect,” she added. It was not immediately clear what Melania Trump was referring to, nor why she chose to speak out on Thursday. “For years, many false images and statements about Epstein and myself have circulated on social media. Beware of what you believe. These images and stories are completely false,” continued the First Lady.
“I have never been involved in any way”
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested and charged in July 2019 for the sexual exploitation of minors and conspiracy. He was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial. The autopsy concluded it was a suicide.
The US Department of Justice has released over three million files related to the investigation into the disgraced financier, showing the extent of his connections to prominent figures. “I was never aware of the abuses committed by Epstein against his victims. I have never been involved in any way. I did not participate,” Melania Trump stated, as photos showed her, along with Donald Trump, in the company of Jeffrey Epstein at New York’s high society parties.
“I have also never been accused or convicted of a crime related to sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other despicable behaviors of Epstein,” she reiterated, urging Congress to hold a public hearing for Epstein abuse survivors to “give these victims the opportunity to testify under oath.”
