The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, vehemently denied any connection to the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein on Thursday, a scandal that her husband, President Donald Trump, has long downplayed. “The lies that associate me with the despicable character that is Jeffrey Epstein must stop today,” Melania Trump declared in front of the cameras during a surprise appearance at the White House.
“People who lie about me are devoid of any ethics, humility, and respect,” she added. It was not immediately clear what Melania Trump was referring to, or why she chose to speak out on Thursday. “For years, many false images and statements regarding Epstein and even myself circulate on social media. Be wary of what you believe. These images and stories are completely false,” the First Lady continued.
“I have never been involved in any way”
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested and charged in July 2019 for sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy. He was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019, while awaiting trial. The autopsy concluded it was suicide.
The U.S. Department of Justice has released over three million files related to the investigation of the disgraced financier, revealing the extent of his connections with prominent personalities. “I have never been aware of the abuses committed by Epstein against his victims. I have never been involved in any way. I did not participate,” Melania Trump stated, even though photos showed her and Donald Trump at events with Jeffrey Epstein in the New York social scene.
“I have never been accused or convicted of a crime related to sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other despicable behaviors of Epstein,” she reiterated, urging Congress to hold a public hearing for Epstein abuse survivors to “give these victims the opportunity to testify under oath.”
