In an interview with AFP, American President Donald Trump boasts of a “total and complete victory” after announcing a two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran.
On Tuesday, April 7, American President Donald Trump told AFP that the United States had achieved a “total and complete victory” by reaching a two-week ceasefire agreement with Iran.
“A total and complete victory. 100%. There is no doubt about it,” said President Trump in a brief interview after the announcement of the agreement.
He did not say whether he would return to his initial threats to destroy Iranian power plants and bridges if the agreement were to fail. “You will have to wait and see,” Donald Trump told AFP.
But he asserted that the issue of Iranian uranium would be “perfectly resolved.”
The uranium issue will be “perfectly resolved”
This topic is a key point of contention, which Washington claims to address in order to ensure that Iran cannot develop nuclear weapons. “It will be perfectly resolved, otherwise I would not have agreed,” insisted the American President, without providing further details.
He also mentioned thinking that China had encouraged Iran to come to the negotiating table to conclude the ceasefire agreement. “That’s what I hear,” Donald Trump responded during a phone interview, when asked about the possible involvement of Beijing in bringing Tehran, its ally, to negotiate a truce.
The American President is set to travel to Beijing in May to meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
