For years, the American author Toby Morton engaged in satire through entertaining shows like South Park. Now, he channels his sharp sense of humor independently on the internet and social media. His latest stunt involved creating a website demanding the enlistment of President Trump’s son, Barron Trump, into the army, sparking controversy among conservative Americans.
Morton’s intentionally provocative and ironic message stated, “America is strong because its leaders are strong. President Trump proves this daily. Naturally, his son Barron is more than capable of defending the country that his father boldly commands.” The website banner proclaimed, “Service is an honor. Strength is hereditary.”
Toby Morton plays on Donald Trump’s past, or rather, his avoidance of military service during the Vietnam War through a questionable medical exemption allegedly arranged by a New York podiatrist with ties to Trump’s father.
The current White House occupant frequently faces harsh criticism for his treatment of the military, often belittling war casualties as “losers” and insulting former Republican presidential candidate John McCain for being captured in Vietnam.
Barron Trump: too tall to be eligible
Toby Morton’s platform was launched following the military operation “Epic Fury” against Iran, resulting in the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several key Iranian officials. Amid heightened tensions, Morton chose to mock the idea of military engagement by targeting the presidential family.
There are currently no official discussions in the United States regarding the reinstatement of the draft, which was abolished in 1973 in favor of an all-volunteer military. American males aged 18 to 25 are still required to register with the Selective Service System in case of future need.
In reality, even if the draft were reintroduced, Barron Trump might not be eligible due to his height of 2.06 meters, exceeding the maximum allowed by the U.S. military which is set at 2.03 meters for logistical reasons related to military equipment and vehicles.
