President Donald Trump has dismissed Attorney General Pam Bondi, a long-time ally and staunch defender of his administration, who held the top law enforcement post in the United States. He praised her on Truth Social and announced that she would be moving to a position in the private sector. Bondi’s tenure at the helm of the Justice Department was marked by controversy, particularly regarding the handling of files related to Jeffrey Epstein and the investigation into the convicted sex offender. She becomes the second Trump administration official to be ousted in recent weeks, following Kristi Noem. Bondi will be replaced by her former deputy, Todd Blanche.
Bondi stated that she would work tirelessly to hand over responsibilities to Blanche, emphasizing that her time in office was the honor of her life. Trump initially defended Bondi, calling her a fantastic person, but later confirmed her departure on Truth Social, indicating that her new role in the private sector would be announced soon. Bondi has been the subject of criticism from both political camps, with legislators questioning her management of the Epstein files and her transparency commitments.
Trump acknowledged Bondi’s work as Attorney General, highlighting her efforts in supervising a broad campaign against crime nationwide. Despite her departure, Bondi’s legacy includes leading several high-profile investigations against political opponents, including scrutiny of Senator Adam Schiff, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and former FBI Director James Comey. Bondi’s departure, along with Noem’s and the previous exit of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, underscores a relatively stable core group in the Trump administration compared to the turnover seen in his first term.
