According to Donald Trump, NATO is a “paper tiger.” The American president renewed his criticisms of NATO on Wednesday, April 1. The White House tenant, upset by the positions of several countries in the Middle East conflict, mentioned the possibility of the United States withdrawing from the alliance.
Guest on LCI, former US ambassador Charles Adams reacted to Donald Trump’s comments. “It is Europe that should reflect on the American utility within NATO. It is the United States that appear to be the ally that ultimately only contributes to creating confusion and chaos worldwide. It is Europe that should ask itself this same question,” he stressed.
Donald Trump has multiplied his criticisms of NATO in recent weeks as the next summit of the alliance is scheduled to begin in early July in Turkey. “I do not take Donald Trump’s threats and Marco Rubio’s observations on this subject, or any other, seriously,” added the former US ambassador.
