King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Visit United States
The King and Queen of the United Kingdom are set to embark on a state visit to the United States at the end of April. Their itinerary will highlight historical ties and bilateral relations, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The royal couple will then visit Bermuda, marking the first visit by a monarch to a British Overseas Territory since King Charles III ascended to the throne in September 2022. London and Washington, linked by 250 years of history, have established a “special relationship” characterized by close diplomatic, military, and economic ties.
An Unprecedented Visit
During her reign, Queen Elizabeth II was received on four state visits to the United States, including in 1976 to commemorate the bicentennial of American independence and in 1991, where she delivered a historic address to the American Congress. Donald Trump, a known admirer of the royal family, expressed excitement about meeting the King during his recent tenure in the White House.
Trump has been critical of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer since the conflict began, accusing him of not adequately supporting the American ally. He remarked, “This isn’t Winston Churchill we’re dealing with,” expressing dissatisfaction with London’s initial reluctance to grant the U.S. military use of its bases. Starmer, on the other hand, affirmed that the “special relationship” with Washington remains intact.
A recent YouGov survey revealed that nearly half of Britons (49%) oppose the upcoming visit, with several UK lawmakers also voicing objections. Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, argued that such an honor “shouldn’t be bestowed upon someone who insults and undermines our country repeatedly.” Last September, Donald Trump was warmly received on his second state visit to the UK.
