- Emergency UN meeting after the death of three peacekeepers
The UN Security Council is set to convene urgently on Tuesday after the deaths of three Indonesian peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, a zone of clashes between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 14:00 GMT.
Indonesia has urged the warring parties in the Middle East to “respect international humanitarian law” following the deaths of its soldiers in two separate attacks.
- Four Israeli soldiers killed in southern Lebanon
The Israeli army announced on Tuesday the deaths of four soldiers during the “incident” in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of military deaths to 10 since hostilities resumed with Hezbollah on March 2.
Three soldiers from a reconnaissance brigade died “in combat” on Monday, and a fourth was killed. “One soldier was also seriously injured and one reservist slightly injured in the incident,” the army added.
- Explosions and power outages in Tehran
Iranian media reported explosions and power outages in Tehran on Tuesday morning. Fars news agency mentioned “several explosions” and power cuts “in some parts” of the capital. Tasnim news agency cited explosions in the east and west of Tehran and disruptions in energy supply in the east, stating that a substation of a power plant had been hit.
The Israeli army had previously instructed residents of a residential area in Tehran to take shelter in anticipation of an attack targeting “a military installation.”
- Explosions in Jerusalem, Israel intercepts Iranian missiles

- Markets rebound after reports of Trump’s reversal
Asian stock markets trimmed losses and oil prices declined on Tuesday following reports that Donald Trump was considering ending military intervention in Iran, even without reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the US president informed his advisors that he was ready to halt the military campaign being conducted against Iran for over a month, believing that forcing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz would extend the conflict “beyond its four to six-week schedule.”
- Iran attacks Kuwait oil tanker in Dubai
Iran conducted a “direct” attack on a Kuwaiti-flagged oil tanker at Dubai’s port in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, causing no injuries, reported the Kuwaiti news agency Kuna.
The ship, Al-Salmi, was fully loaded at the time of the incident. The attack caused damage to the ship’s hull and a fire on board, with a risk of an oil spill in the surrounding waters, as per the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. Dubai authorities confirmed a Kuwaiti oil tanker was targeted by a drone in Dubai’s waters, causing a fire that was later extinguished.
