They did it for the third time in less than a year. A coalition of associations united around the slogan “No Kings, no ICE, no war” paraded in many US cities this Saturday, March 28. This movement has emerged as the most important source of protest against the current administration since Donald Trump returned to the White House.

During this day, millions of protesters took to the streets across the country. In New York, Atlanta, Boston, or Washington, the capital, they expressed their opposition to Donald Trump, as you can see in the video at the top of the article.

The first mobilization in June 2025 – on the 79th birthday of the US president and a military parade in Washington – brought together several million people across the country. Eight million people gathered this Saturday, according to the organizers; no official figures are provided by the US authorities.

“We believe the Constitution is threatened in multiple ways. The situation is not normal, not acceptable. That’s why we are here, to help keep people safe and ensure their voices are heard,” said Marc McCaughey, a 36-year-old veteran who came to demonstrate in Atlanta.

On the other side of the Atlantic, in Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, or Athens, there were also “No Kings” rallies. Twenty thousand people paraded in the Italian capital, also celebrating the defeat of the far-right government in a referendum on justice.

In Washington, several demonstrators marched with signs displaying anti-war messages and peace symbols, after a month of war in Iran and civilians continuing to pay a heavy toll across the Middle East.

“Since our last demonstration, this government has plunged us further into war,” denounced Naveed Shah, leader of Common Defense, a veterans’ organization part of the “No Kings” coalition. “At home, we have seen citizens killed in the streets by militarized forces. We have seen torn families and immigrant communities targeted,” added the veteran, referring to recent events in Minneapolis.

This Democratic city in the Midwest, the epicenter at the beginning of the year of Donald Trump’s brutal anti-immigration offensive, is touted as the focal point of Saturday’s protests – along with its twin city, Saint-Paul.

Bruce Springsteen, a staunch critic of the US president, will perform his song “Streets of Minneapolis,” written in tribute to the two Americans killed by federal agents during immigration police operations, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

“The people of Minnesota (where Minneapolis is located) have already proven they are willing to defend democracy at -20°C, so Saturday will be a piece of cake!” said local organizers. Senator Bernie Sanders, a figure of the American left, is also expected to attend.

“Secret masked police sowing terror in our communities. Illegal and catastrophic war putting us in danger and driving up our expenses. Attacks on our freedom of expression and civil rights. Costs pushing families to the brink. Trump wants to govern us like a tyrant,” the collective “No Kings” denounces.

The organizers specify that two-thirds of those who expressed their intention to join the protests this Saturday reside outside major cities, representing a significant increase compared to the previous mobilization day.
