The President of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, claims that the United States is planning a ground offensive while publicly displaying diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
Accusations of double standards. The President of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated on Sunday, March 29, that the United States was planning a ground offensive while publicly engaging in diplomatic efforts to end the war.
“The enemy publicly sends negotiation and dialogue messages, while secretly planning a ground offensive,” Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated in a statement relayed by the official Irna news agency.
“We can punish the United States”
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf assured that Iran is prepared: “Our men are waiting for the arrival of American soldiers on the ground to attack them and punish once and for all their regional allies,” he added.
He also called on Iranians to unite, emphasizing that the country is engaged in “a major global war” at its most critical stage.
“Several raids on Iranian territory”
These accusations align with the Washington Post’s revelations that the Pentagon is preparing for weeks-long operations on the ground in Iran.
Such operations would not lead to a large-scale invasion of Iran, as emphasized by anonymous American officials, but would rather involve raids on Iranian territory by both special forces and other soldiers.
The information from the American capital’s newspaper comes at a time when the United States’ posture in the Middle East conflict is strengthened by the arrival of the amphibious assault ship Tripoli in the region, as announced by the American military on Saturday.
This aircraft carrier is leading a naval group that includes “around 3,500” sailors and Marines, according to the US Centcom command.
