“No kings, no ICE, no war”: millions of protesters, including celebrities like Bruce Springsteen and Robert De Niro, marched on Saturday, March 28 in the US against Donald Trump, his anti-immigration policies, and war with Iran. In cities like Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and Boston, participants carried signs with anti-war messages and peace symbols after a month of conflict in the Middle East and with the upcoming midterm elections in November. The No Kings movement claimed a record turnout for this third day of protests against the Republican in a year, with at least eight million protesters in over 3,300 marches.
This corresponds to an estimated increase of one million participants and 600 additional marches compared to the previous day in October. The movement has become the most significant driver of opposition since the return of the Republican billionaire to the White House. US authorities did not provide any official figures. “We believe the Constitution is threatened in multiple ways. The situation is not normal, not acceptable. That’s why we are here, to help keep people safe and ensure their voices are heard,” said Marc McCaughey, a 36-year-old veteran protesting in Atlanta, Georgia.
Robert Pavosevich, 67, near the White House in Washington, says Donald Trump is “just lying.” “I think more and more people are getting angry, and I think things will slowly change,” he says. The American president was playing golf at his Florida private club on Saturday afternoon.
