The Eurodéputée Reconquête stated that in the event of the success of the Horizons boss, she would withdraw, without supporting him. However, the candidate who made it to the second round of the municipal election in Paris believes that the mayor of Le Havre will not accept the idea of such a primary.
If the municipal elections have just ended, the focus is already set on the 2027 presidential election. The idea of a primary to designate a single candidate from the right and center for this opportunity divides the political class. Marine Le Pen stated on March 26th that she “does not believe” in such a union.
On the other hand, some candidates are in favor of it, like Laurent Wauquiez, David Lisnard, and Sarah Knafo, a former Reconquête candidate for Paris mayor, who expressed support for such an initiative to give a “direction to the right.” When asked about the possibility of success in this potential primary for Édouard Philippe, Sarah Knafo stated that she would respect the decision of the French and withdraw, but she would not “support or campaign” for him.
“I don’t think Édouard Philippe would present himself for this potential primary anyway because he knows he wouldn’t stand a chance,” stated the Eurodéputée. The voters “will choose someone from the right,” and Reconquête represents this right: “we have right-wing convictions,” affirms Sarah Knafo, directly referring to the National Rally.
“I hope Éric Zemmour will run,” stated the former municipal candidate. Sarah Knafo emphasized the positions of Reconquête, indicating that they are faithful to both the egalitarian aspirations of RN voters as well as the economic aspirations of LR voters. She considers herself to be at a “equidistance” in terms of egalitarianism, emphasizing a tough stance on immigration, reinforced security, and a firmer national policy.
The Eurodéputée remained vague about the future presidential candidate for Reconquête, simply stating, “I hope Éric Zemmour will run.”
