Incumbent Green mayor of Besançon, Anne Vignot allies with LFI to “beat the right”

Incumbent Green mayor of Besançon, Anne Vignot, who was far behind LR candidate Ludovic Fagaut at the end of the first round of municipal elections, announces an alliance with LFI to “beat the right.”

Anne Vignot, candidate of an alliance between Ecologists-PS-PCF, received 33.37% of the votes, behind Ludovic Fagaut (40.13%), supported by MoDem, led by Laurent Croizier. She teams up for the second round with LFI candidate Séverine Véziès who obtained 10.90% of the votes.

“The Besançon, lively, fair and human lists and Do better for Besançon have decided to unite for the second round in order to beat the LR and Macronist right of Messrs. Fagaut and Croizier.”

The candidates of the National Rally (RN), Jacques Ricciardetti (8%), and Horizon-Renaissance, Eric Delabrousse (5.67%), did not qualify for the second round, but their lists are able to merge with those that passed the 10% mark.

The RN candidate declared on Sunday evening on Ici Franche-Comté that he would not give any voting instructions. As for Ludovic Fagaut (LR/MoDem), he had already ruled out any alignment with “extremes” before the first round.
