Behind the scenes, a real collective machine comes into action. This Sunday evening, all the teams of Nouvelle-Calédonie la 1ère will be mobilized to bring the municipal elections to life live. Journalists, technicians, and production teams will work together to inform the New Caledonians as the votes are counted.

A meticulously coordinated control center is at the heart of the operation. This is where the entire electoral evening is coordinated. Cameras from the studio, images from the teams on the ground, graphic design – everything is orchestrated live. Key to this is constant communication between the teams. The chief editor guides the editorial content while the scriptwriter coordinates the program with the director to anticipate each sequence.
In parallel, the editorial teams remain in constant contact with the journalists in the municipalities to organize their live interventions.
Throughout the evening, 14 communes in the territory will be covered by the editorial journalists. They will be on-site following the vote counting and transmitting the initial trends as soon as the polls close.
To ensure the quality of the broadcast, a technical setup will accompany the teams on the ground.
Another essential link in the chain is the results collection unit. The data transmitted from the communes will be verified and computerized. Once validated, the data will be sent to the broadcast and presented live by a journalist, accompanied by detailed tables illustrating the scores of the different lists. A graphic display that will allow viewers and internet users to clearly follow the evolution of the election.
Technical, editorial, image, sound, or infographic: all the services of NC la 1ère will participate in this electoral evening. An engagement commensurate to the stakes.
“It is an important moment in the democratic life of the country. The municipal elections determine the daily life of the New Caledonians, so we had to be present,” concludes the Director of Information Olivier Gelin.
The special evening for municipal elections is to be followed this Sunday from 7 pm, on television, radio, on the website, and social networks of NC la 1ère.
