The leader of the left wing in Agde provides an update on his campaign. Along with his partner Chloé Donate-Estournet, they discuss the “very warm welcome” being reserved for the Nouvelle Agde list, which leverages its youth as a strength.
If there is one candidacy that attracts sympathy in this campaign, it is indeed that of Arthur Labatut and his partner Chloé Donate Estournet. Not because they are left-wing, mind you, but mainly because they are young and have managed to dust off some local issues.
Divisions on the left, probably not irreversible
We can assure you: nothing has been easy for the Nouvelle Agde list, which was eventually submitted to the Prefecture. “Having our list is a first victory,” declare the two running mates, who have made gender parity a normal functioning, including in speaking time with journalists.
Yes, forming a single left-wing list was not a smooth journey. It first required shaking things up, even if it meant upsetting the old guard. Thus, Dr. Bertrand de Pontual, a candidate in previous municipal elections, was left behind. A separation marked by bitterness, but as an intelligent man, the emergency doctor could still look kindly upon this new candidacy, like other figures of the local left, in fact.
Greening of the city, salaried doctors and practitioners…
In the meantime, “the campaign is going very well,” appreciates Arthur Labatut. “At markets, public meetings, we receive a very warm welcome. People are happy to see young faces.” The campaign themes also venture off the beaten path at times. “For us, the greening of the city is a central project,” explains Chloé Donate-Estournet. “We embrace a different vision, but our proposals are simple and achievable.” Like the creation of a municipal health center, with general practitioners and other practitioners employed by the City. The participatory assemblies in Agde, which will bring forward projects adopted by the municipal council, are also measures that resonate with some Agde voters. The ballot boxes will deliver their verdict.
The next public meeting of the Nouvelle Agde list is scheduled for Thursday, March 12th at 7:00 PM, at the Saint-Martin domain.
