GRAND ENTRETIEN – What political lessons can be drawn from the death of Quentin? The former socialist deputy and the Quebec sociologist both point to the responsibility of LFI.

Julien Dray, former socialist deputy, emphasizes the climate of violence and confrontation while Mathieu Bock-Cété, a Quebec sociologist, deplores the staging of a false equivalence between the far left and the far right.

LE FIGARO MAGAZINE. – Fifteen days after the death of Quentin in Lyon, some observers have spoken of a clash between the far left and the far right while others have mentioned a lynching… What is your opinion?

Julien Dray. – One does not exclude the other. There can be a clash and a lynching afterwards, a clash that goes wrong. The images clearly show that there was a confrontation between two groups. Then, there is a relentless attack on two activists who are on the ground and are truly lynched by the Young Guard militants. So, there was indeed a fight that went wrong, with behavior that is shameful and dirty from those who relentlessly attacked this young man on the ground.
