Recently appointed head of information at France Télévisions, Philippe Corbé is reorganizing the editorial staff of the public channels. At 1:45 pm this Thursday, the newcomer will announce to the teams the arrival of a new head for the political service.

The lucky one: Neila Latrous, 39 years old. According to concordant sources, the journalist resigned yesterday from BFMTV where she led the political service from 2023 until last July under the direction of Philippe Corbé who was then editor-in-chief of the news channel. Last July, she asked to leave the service, with BFMTV hiring Marie Chantrait from LCI to replace her.

Since then, Neila Latrous has been regularly appearing on BFMTV to comment on political news. The professional was approached by France Télévisions last fall, as well as her colleague Guillaume Daret, who ultimately chose to stay at BFMTV.

Ready for the municipal elections

This appointment disappoints Jeff Wittenberg. Since September, this well-known reporter to public television viewers has been interim of Cyril Graziani, who left his position last fall. Jeff Wittenberg hoped to be confirmed in his duties. He had the support of his team. The political journalists sent a joint letter to Delphine Ernotte and her number 2, Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, asking for their boss to be kept and regretting his departure on the eve of the March 15 and 22 municipal elections. A letter that remained unanswered. But time is running out to get ready for the 2027 presidential election. Jeff Wittenberg, however, does not leave the company, he remains in the management of his department.

Philippe Corbé continues to discuss with Nicolas Marut, also a senior executive at BFMTV, as revealed a few days ago by La Lettre. His arrival at the helm of the franceinfo channel is pending validation by the broadcasting regulator. The news channel is the major challenge for the public group as its audiences are low compared to its three other competitors.

Once these recruitments are completed, Philippe Corbé will be able to start his other project: the launch of the new version of “L’Événement”. The prime time political show presented by Caroline Roux will be renamed “L’Heure de vérité”, a cult meeting from the 1980s and 1990s, with notably Alain Duhamel.

For its 2026 version, Caroline Roux is expected to be joined by Benjamin Duhamel and surrounded by several personalities of various political colors, a role that Sonia Mabrouk, Marc-Olivier Fogiel from RTL, or Geoffroy Lejeune and Charlotte d’Ornellas from JDD are considering. Launch scheduled just after the municipal elections.
