On Wednesday, the American president once again asserted that his French counterpart “is mistreated by his wife and is recovering from the blow he received to the jaw.”
Upon his arrival in Seoul for an official visit with his wife, Emmanuel Macron responded to Trump’s comments about their relationship by stating that they are “neither elegant nor up to par.”
“The remarks I heard and that you are referring to are neither elegant nor up to par…that’s it…so I will not respond, it does not deserve a response,” he indicated.
During a speech on Wednesday, just hours before his address to the American nation, he claimed that his French counterpart “is mistreated by his wife and is recovering from the blow he received to the jaw.” The US president specifically mentioned the blow delivered to the face of the president of the Republic by Brigitte Macron in May 2025, during a tour of Southeast Asia.
