The Asia Center of Ifri is at the heart of multiple economic, political, and security issues. The Asia Center aims to shed light on these realities and assist in decision-making through in-depth research and the development of a permanent dialogue platform around these issues.

The Asia Center structures its research around two main axes: the relations of the major Asian powers with the rest of the world and the internal dynamics of Asian economies and societies. The Center’s activities focus on China, Japan, India, Taiwan, and the Indo-Pacific, but also cover Southeast Asia, the Korean peninsula, and Oceania.

The Asia Center maintains close institutional relationships with counterpart research institutes in Europe and Asia, and its researchers regularly conduct fieldwork in the region.

It organizes closed roundtable discussions, expert seminars, as well as various public events in Paris, including its annual conference, with the participation of experts from Asia, Europe, or the United States. The work of the Center’s researchers and their foreign partners is notably published in the electronic collection Asia.Visions.
