From municipal councilor between 2014 and 2026, first under Francis Juan and then under Pascal Penetro, Isabelle Duquesne now holds the position of mayor in Fos. She was joined by Jean-Marie Mazzer as deputy mayor. Isabelle Dequesne has lived in Fos for 22 years, a village not far from her ancestors’ land in Canejan in the Val d’Aran, where her grandfather was from. Today, together with her team, she is committed to serving Fos and its residents.
What motivated you to run for mayor?
I have always been committed, both personally and professionally. Leading an association, committing to a cause or an issue is extremely motivating. After being elected for 12 years as a councilor in my municipality and encouraged by my colleagues, I took the plunge. Being mayor is not an end in itself, it’s about serving the residents within a strong, competent, and willing team.
What will be your first task?
We aim to work closely together to address various issues, this work has already begun. Our first priority is to assess the municipality’s finances. We value social connection and are working hard to reopen the village’s grocery store.
What will be your guiding principle?
Rigor, transparency, shared governance, and direct democracy are our core values. With my colleagues, we have decided to embody values of solidarity and respect.
What do you envision for Fos in the future?
Initially, we want to focus on highlighting our small heritage and beautifying our village, involving residents who are interested. We will undertake realistic projects within our financial means. Gradually, we hope to undertake more ambitious projects.
