Michel Rossi, who was defeated at the polls, does not plan to give up. In a statement sent to Nice-Matin yesterday, he announced that he will “challenge” the results of the municipal elections held on March 15 and 22, “after noting several irregularities during the campaign.” The outgoing mayor describes the result as “particularly close” and reflects “the support of a significant part of the inhabitants to our project and the values we uphold.”

The former mayor, who was defeated by Ewan Corinaldesi by 39 votes – who received 50.47% of the votes on Sunday, March 22 – will not personally attend the installation of the municipal council this Saturday morning, “in coherence with this action.”

Although he will not witness the power transition to the young law student, the seven elected members of his list, “Protégeons notre village,” will be present. They will represent “a vigilant, responsible, and constructive opposition, fully committed to defending the interests of the inhabitants and the future of our commune,” assures Michel Rossi, who vows to “remain fully mobilized and committed to serving the residents, with the same determination and sense of responsibility.”

Corinaldesi reacted to Rossi’s decision, expressing regret for “this very undemocratic position” and hoped that he would accept the voters’ decision and participate in this crucial moment for the commune. He also raised the question of whether Rossi was ready for this change.

Regarding the allegations of “irregularities,” Corinaldesi refuted them, stating that the only irregularities reported are from Rossi’s own camp, so they are confident. He also pointed out that Rossi’s recourse is not based on anything tangible.

As for any concerns from the elected members of the Les Républicains list, the new mayor assures that it will not affect their mandate’s start. He looks forward to the municipal council meeting to start working in Roquefort-les-Pins. His next step is to meet with all municipal employees.
