This Friday evening, at Albert-Domec, US Carcassonne was overturned by Mont-de-Marsan at the end of a completely crazy match (defeat 28-29), in this 24th day of Pro D2. The reactions of the Aude players were heated.

Bernard Goutta, manager of USC:

“The scenario is both cruel and painful. We knew we could come back after half-time, we lost too many balls easily. We were penalized very little. The contribution from the bench gives us energy, duels, carried balls. We lack control, on a kickoff. You can’t win a match of this intensity, of this importance, by conceding four tries at Domec. The defense doesn’t make the effort to put the opponent in difficulty. Our group is healthy and resilient. We will be until the end of the championship. There is still hope, there are five matches to win. Our direct competitor is taking a comfortable lead. I am disappointed in our defense, what bothers me the most is the lack of aggressiveness on the man.”

Evrard-Dion Oulaï, second row of USC:

“We were ready to enter the field, it’s a shame we didn’t have that control, calm the game and defend properly. It’s difficult to bring so much intensity and not win in the end. We conceded tries we shouldn’t have, we will analyze, work and implement what is necessary. The captain asked us to be lucid, to remain calm. The scenario had to be managed.”

Clément Briscadieu, coach of Mont-de-Marsan:

“We had a correct first half, but not enough. The score was not wide enough at halftime. Carcassonne had 20-30 almost perfect minutes, they controlled the wind and put us under pressure. It’s complicated, but we had a strategy in place against this team for two weeks and we waited until the last quarter of an hour to implement it. We have to remember the resilience of the team, to bounce back, that’s the big positive point. We almost had regrets, but the players went to get it. We are proud of them.”

Ioane Iashagashvili, third row of Mont-de-Marsan:

“We had to remain disciplined after playing against the wind in the first half. We didn’t do what we had said and it cost us dearly. We made mistakes that we paid for. We went to get the victory in the end, it feels good. The four points will count a lot in the end.”
