The Youth Bullfighting Association of the 2 Rive officially came to life last Saturday.
There was a crowd last Saturday on the top floor of the restaurant Derrière l’église de Nîmes, at the bar Morante de la Puebla. The Youth Bullfighting Association of the 2 Rive organized its inaugural general meeting. Bringing together 50 members, this first meeting allowed for the unanimous election of the board composed of Floriane Leroi (president), Gauthier Carpentier (vice-president), Astrid Vialle, Mona Viviane Saintot, Damien Michel, and Yanis Meinel – as well as the adoption of the statutes.
After each creating their own network dedicated to youth bullfighting in Nîmes and Arles, Gauthier and Floriane decided to unite on the banks of the Rhône. “The idea is to bring back an organized and motivated youth bullfighting in the Southeast with beautiful projects to come. The goal is to involve young people in investing and asserting their passion in our cities. We clearly lost this gathering for some time,” said Gauthier Carpentier.
An opening mass for the Nîmes feria
The Arles bullfighter Juan Leal is the godfather and honorary president of this association that aims to promote both Spanish and Camargue bullfighting. Driven by a desire for transmission and commitment, this new structure already has several projects in mind to involve young people in the promotion of bullfighting culture: an opening mass for the Nîmes feria, initiation to campo and bullfighting, meetings with professionals, and the organization of bullfighting events, including a day planned in Mas Thibert.
“With this initiative, Nîmes and Arles affirm their common desire to prepare the future of bullfighting tradition by relying on their youth,” conclude Floriane and Gauthier.
