The municipalities of Asson, Assat, Bénac-Jacaq, Beuste, Bordes, Capbis, Coarraze, Lys and Nay are among the communities mobilized to host these various events, most of which are free and open to the public.

On Saturday, April 18 at 7 p.m., a polyphonic concert with the group Arraditz, a trio of women rooted in their traditions, will take place in the courtyard of the Maison Carrée in Nay. Their repertoire offers harmonized songs and songs, a cappella, that tell stories of history, mountains, local loves or goodbyes. The female group Espelidas will also bring the Pyrenean polyphonic tradition to life with strength and sensitivity. On Sunday, April 19, it’s time for “Cinéma’A Hum” with a screening of the film “Asterix e lo Maine daus Dius” by Alexandre Astier in Occitan with French subtitles at 2 p.m. At 4 p.m., the association Conta’m will host a dubbing workshop in Occitan using excerpts from animated films such as “Le Grand Méchant Renard”, “Paddington” and “Terminator 2”.
On Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m., the public will be invited to participate in an afternoon of initiation to “traditional dances” with the group Espartenhas in Beuste.
Gastronomy and local products
Throughout the Mes Biarnés festival, Gascon gastronomy will also be celebrated through the Nhac’Ahum festival. Several restaurants will showcase local cuisine and terroir products by offering a Gascon menu, either traditional or revisited. On each menu, 1 euro will be donated to the Vath a Hum association to support projects dedicated to promoting Gascon culture in the Nay plain.
In Lestelle-Bétharram, Lestelle Café and Le Vieux Logis will participate, as will the restaurant O Jour le Jour in Montaut. In Nay, Le Béar-N-Ay, El Txoko, L’Encanayais, Le Saint-Pierre, L’Unique and Les Deux Palmiers will also be involved. In Igon, Chez Ludo will join the initiative, as will The Bridge Pub in Assat and Le Saveur Vivre in Bordes.

The Nay Plain welcomes the passage of La Passem
On Thursday, April 30 starting at 10:30 p.m., the solidarity relay race La Passem will cross the roads of the territory passing through Bruges, Asson, Igon, Coarraze, Bénac-Jacaq, Mirepeix, Nay, Bourdettes, Arros-de-Nay and Bosdarros. Runners and walkers will relay over 28 km to carry the “Ligam”, symbol of the “lenga nosta”, from hand to hand at each kilometer. This event is accessible to all, including those who just wish to watch. Each kilometer of La Passem is for sale at the price of 100 euros. The funds raised will support projects in favor of the Occitan language (education, culture and transmission). Accompanying the relay runners, a special evening will be organized at Nul Bar Ailleurs in Coarraze, with concerts featuring Gascon music, a bar and a farm-style meal.
