Paris’s newly appointed mayor has a strong focus on promoting and supporting the city’s cultural scene, aiming to make it accessible to both tourists and residents. Through various initiatives such as providing affordable rents and support funds for cultural establishments, developing creative spaces, and organizing artist residencies, the mayor is dedicated to enhancing Paris’s cultural vibrancy.
Additionally, plans include extending the opening hours of museums and libraries, automatically issuing library cards to all children and teenagers in Paris, and listing all cultural offerings on a single online platform called Paris Culture. Negotiations are also underway to provide discounted entry to national museums for Parisians. Furthermore, the mayor envisions free access annually for Parisian and Île-de-France students to the Eiffel Tower.
The mayor intends to create significant cultural events like an international salon dedicated to visual arts, digital arts, and video games, as well as an annual festival celebrating the gates of Paris. Implementing safe spaces at events for individuals experiencing violence or discrimination is also a priority. The overall aim is to make all Parisian festive venues accessible to everyone, promoting inclusivity and cultural celebration throughout the city.
