LUMINISCENCE extends its success in Nice with L’Odyssée Céleste, a new immersive creation to discover at the Basilica of Notre-Dame.
After conquering over a million spectators worldwide by enhancing the most majestic sacred buildings, the LUMINISCENCE collective has made a remarkable return to Nice. Following the success of its first edition, since November 28, 2025, it has been presenting its brand new creation, “L’Odyssée Céleste,” at the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption. This show, which required over eighteen months of work, offers a unique sensory experience, blending cutting-edge technology, poetic narration, and orchestral music to tell the story of the city.
Unveiled for the first time in Bordeaux in September 2025, this production is part of an initiative to enhance heritage through digital art. It transforms the visit to a historic site into a captivating adventure, accessible to all audiences, designed to captivate as much as to educate.
A sensory immersion at the heart of architecture
L’Odyssée Céleste is not just a sound and light show, but a true immersive dive. Thanks to a 360-degree video projection technology, the entire architecture of the basilica becomes a living canvas. The vaults, pillars, stained glass windows, and walls are transformed into completely reinvented visual artworks, transporting the viewer into a dreamlike universe. Every architectural detail is highlighted, magnified, and integrated into a dynamic narrative fresco that blurs traditional spatial references.
The experience is complemented by an original soundtrack specially composed for the show. It pays tribute to the great masterpieces of classical and sacred music, while the celestial voices of the choirs seem to emanate from the stone itself, enhancing the sense of total immersion. Spectators are invited to wander or sit down to be enveloped by this timeless journey lasting approximately fifty minutes.
When the basilica tells the story of Nice
Beyond the technical prowess, the power of L’Odyssée Céleste lies in its poetic narration. The show stages a touching dialogue between a child, symbolizing curiosity and the future, and the basilica itself, which comes to life for the occasion. Personified, it becomes the guardian and narrator of the “fascinating story of Nice.”
