Norman police officer hospitalized with serious injuries after crash
The officer was transported to a hospital in serious condition, according to the Norman Police Department.

WE JUST WATCHED AS A AMBULANCE FROM NORMAN, AS WELL AS SEVERAL POLICE CARS, ESCORTED THAT AMBULANCE INTO THE E.R. HERE AT THE HOSPITAL. I’LL GET OUT OF THE WAY SO YOU CAN SEE THAT AMBULANCE THAT YOU SEE RIGHT BEHIND THE TREE BEHIND ME. THAT’S THE ONE WE JUST WATCHED. ROLL IN. I’LL GO AHEAD AND READ THE INFORMATION WE HAVE FROM NORMAN POLICE. THERE WAS AN INJURY COLLISION INVOLVING TWO VEHICLES AT CLASSEN AND DRAKE DRIVE, AND THAT WAS AROUND 920 TONIGHT, LESS THAN AN HOUR AGO, ONE OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WAS A NORMAN POLICE OFFICER. THAT OFFICER WAS TRANSPORTED HERE TO OU HEALTH, AND WE’RE TOLD THEY WERE IN SERIOUS CONDITION. WE DON’T HAVE A TON OF OTHER DETAILS RIGHT NOW. A police officer was seriously injured Tuesday evening after a crash in Norman. The Norman Police Department confirmed that officers responded to an injury crash involving two vehicles at Classen Boulevard and Drake Drive at about 9:20 p.m. One of the vehicles involved was a Norman police unit. The officer driving the police car was transported to a hospital in serious condition, according to the Norman Police Department. The other driver involved in the crash was not injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation. KOCO 5’s Jason Burger was at OU Health in Oklahoma City, where an ambulance was seen arriving with Norman police units parking nearby.
