As the operation “Epic Fury” strikes Iran since February 28, 2026, the increase in armed conflicts marks the end of a certain idea of deterrence. From Ukraine to Gaza, from the Caucasus to the Middle East, something has unraveled in the security architecture that prevented the return of conquest wars.
