As part of Out-of-Season, the cultural escapes in Erdre and Gesvres, the Rictus theater presents the play “Grégoire” on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 8:30 pm, at the Escale culture.

Emerging from the chrysalis of adolescence

Grégoire is a teenager like millions of others. In the midst of physical and mental transformation, he navigates this turbulent period of existence where everything seems to be called into question. Often hiding in his room, in the relative and fragile shelter of social networks, he is in full opposition to the adult order and symbolically metamorphoses before emerging from his chrysalis.

The gaze of others makes him think that he has become a monster, a real cockroach. This state of affairs torments him, but also reinforces his solitude. So, after many contortions, will he manage to emerge dignified?

    Based on Kafka’s work

By transposing the story from Franz Kafka, author Éric Pessan and director Laurent Maindon subtly question the message that this work would deliver today. Both were invited to the Youth Book Fair in 2025, offering us a hard-hitting play that will, in one fell swoop, touch the adolescent souls.

As part of the artistic education programs of the Erdre and Gesvres community of municipalities, 12 classes of middle and high school students will discover this show during school sessions. Some classes will also benefit from theater workshops with the actors.
