With 140 members, the Occitan Studies Institute (IEO82), Antonin-Perbès association, held its annual general meeting at the former college where various regular activities take place: language courses and conferences during the two main events “La prima d’òc” in spring and “Vendemias d’òc” (grape harvest) in autumn which also offer events in several municipalities of the department where Occitan courses and “parladissas” are also given, weekly or bi-monthly conversation workshops (Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Caussade, Maubec, Puygaillard-de-Quercy, Saint-Antonin).
This language awareness (initiation and improvement) is complemented by bi-monthly traditional dance workshops in Montauban, weekly in Montricoux, a bi-monthly accordion workshop on Mondays, and a monthly flute workshop on Tuesdays, both in Montauban.
Among the recurring events, mention should be made of the “dictada occitana” (in Montauban as well as in around fifty cities in Occitania, Paris, Barcelona and Valencia), traditional balls in five villages in Tarn-et-Garonne, animated by the president-musician Manu Isopet, storytelling evenings in Caylus and at the Tauge riverbank festival, the conference “Occitan writings from the Middle Ages in Midi-Quercy, a gourmet Occitan snack in Beaumont with an initiation into the language and culture of Occitania, fun and delicious with Patrice Labat. Throughout the year, at various village festivals, there is also an information and awareness stand.
Events include: “En Camin per la lenga”, a trail and bike ride from Caussade to Moissac; Total Festum Prima d’oc in Vazerac: exhibition, conference, screening of a film, musical aperitif offered by Bassacada and even a live commentary of the rugby championship in Occitan.
Two internal celebrations punctuate the year: the celebration of IEO82 and Anap Quercy workshops in June, in Vazerac, and the Occitan Christmas Eve in Caussade. These numerous actions (not all of them mentioned there are so many!) are carried out at the departmental level in twelve municipalities and a third of the department’s cantons, in collaboration with around fifteen other local structures, associations, and public bodies. IEO82 is also a resource center, L’Ostalet occitan, a nomadic library (very successful), translation and linguistic advice… In a future edition, we will discuss the projects for 2026.
