The Israeli army will “intensify its targeted ground operations and strikes in Lebanon,” warned Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the chief of staff, on Sunday, March 22.
“The operation against the terrorist organization Hezbollah is only just beginning. This is a long-term operation and we are prepared for it,” Eyal Zamir said in a statement.
“We are now preparing to intensify targeted ground operations and strikes, according to a structured plan. We will not stop until the threat is pushed far from the border and long-term security is ensured for the residents of northern Israel,” he added.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 1,029 people have been killed in Lebanon since the fighting between Israel and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah movement began on March 2, including 118 children and 40 healthcare workers. The ministry also reports 2,786 wounded.
More than a million people are registered as displaced. The Lebanese army announced that six of its soldiers have been killed. Hezbollah has not provided information on its losses.
