In the context of a military exercise, numerous helicopters spent the day on the football field of Montmartin-sur-Mer on Saturday, May 23, attracting many curious onlookers.
Mayor Xavier Latournerie met with the colonel commanding the 3rd combat helicopter regiment in Etain, Meuse in the morning. This military exercise of the army on open ground is taking place from Monday, May 18 to Tuesday, May 26 between Guer in Morbihan, Cherbourg, and Le Mans in Sarthe. Nearly 600 soldiers, vehicles, drones, as well as 24 attack and maneuver helicopters were mobilized. Since Thursday, May 21, the helicopters have been operating between Valognes and Villedieu-les-Poêles. This operational evaluation training is organized for the benefit of the 3rd combat helicopter regiment.
In the town, many spectators had the chance to enjoy this unexpected and very impressive spectacle. They were able to admire, among other things, an NH90, a European twin-turbine military helicopter used for military transport.
