On March 21st, the World Day against Racism is an opportunity to remind us that many workers face racist violence and discrimination daily. Racist rhetoric is on the rise due to continuous propaganda, especially as the far-right approaches power. Various forms of racism, such as anti-Roma, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, anti-Black, and anti-Asian racism, are advancing and reinforcing each other. Words precede actions, justifying violence and discriminatory practices at work and elsewhere. These practices lead to wage losses, unequal access to promotions, “glass ceilings,” and concrete impacts on the health of affected workers. Fighting against all forms of racism is a labor issue that requires daily attention from everyone. In this context, the FERC CGT has decided to publish a union guide called “Combating Racism in the Workplace” and organize national training sessions to equip organization members. The FERC CGT calls on workers in education, research, higher education, culture, popular education, and sports to mobilize on March 21, 2026, in support of initiatives aimed at eliminating racial discrimination worldwide.
