A KTLA news reporter was teasing an upcoming story about a bear attack in a Monrovia neighborhood when a black bear suddenly appeared behind her. On Sunday morning, Reporter Erin Myers was in front of the home on Oakglade Drive where the California Department of Fish and Wildlife had parked a bear trap in the driveway in an attempt to capture the bear that had been living under that house. “And yes, we all see that bear off to the right side,” KTLA’s Megan Telles said during the live broadcast, after the shot returned to the studio. “I see it now,” Myers said among gasps in the newsroom, as reported by KTLA. “OK, let’s go back to Erin Myers,” Telles said. The station then returned to the live shot. The camera zoomed in on the bear taking a look at the trap then taking a walk on the neighbor’s grass before continuing up the street as Myers reported on the bear attack. The bear had been living under the house with a cub for several months, but it was unknown whether it was the bear that swiped a woman’s leg while walking her dog. Fish and Wildlife officials were monitoring the situation.
