Students from 4th and 3rd grade at Dominique-Savio College took part in a trip to Spain, Cantabria and the Basque Country. They visited several cities and iconic sites in the region and stayed with Iberian families to enhance and develop their language skills.
The small groups roamed around Santander and the old town of Bilbao. Among the noteworthy sites, the students also visited Comillas at the “El Capricho” pavilion by Gaudí, then to the medieval village of Santillana del Mar, before ending at the Altamira caves. A full day was spent in the Picos de Europa Natural Park. The trip concluded with a historical interlude at Guernica, a significant memorial site, followed by a more festive note with a highly appreciated Basque pelota workshop.
This diverse and rhythmic journey was a great opportunity for all the young participants to better comprehend Spanish culture and share a rewarding collective experience. Open days for the entire school, including primary school and college, are scheduled for Saturday, March 21 between 9 am and 3:30 pm, with a friendly buffet.
