Fairfield Police arrested a Bridgeport man named Wesner Thelamour for an armed robbery at News Express on March 2. Thelamour was found with a handgun and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect entered the store at 9 p.m., demanded money at gunpoint, and fled on foot with cash. The police are collaborating with Stamford and Bridgeport departments for further leads.
United Illuminating (UI) completed the Derby Junction Ansonia transmission line project by replacing old lattice towers with monopoles. This upgrade aims to enhance the electric transmission system’s reliability. UI President Frank Reynolds emphasized the importance of infrastructure investment for grid resilience. SoundWaters appointed Darien resident Mirellise Vazquez from The Connecticut Project to its board of directors. Vazquez’s extensive experience in philanthropy and public service will benefit SoundWaters. She has a background in community leadership and holds various roles in philanthropic organizations and advisory councils. Vazquez’s education includes a Master of Public Policy degree and a bachelor’s degree in governance.
