Following their initial training in Moselle, 22 young recruits from the 48th regiment of transmissions (RT) completed a week of acculturation between military traditions and combatant memory in Agen.

Returning to Agen after ten weeks of initial training at the Center for Initial Training of Enlisted Soldiers (CFIM) in Dieuze, 22 initial volunteer recruits (EVI), young enlisted soldiers of the 48th regiment of transmissions (RT) specialized in information and communication systems of the Army, began a regimental acculturation week as directed by Colonel Stanislas Richebé.

An immersion in traditions and references was scheduled in Agen, Paris, and Cesson-Sévigné before technical training. The objective is to strengthen the unit’s camaraderie and historical roots through visits to the Invalides, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Transmissions Museum. On April 9th, the French Memorial Association 47, the National Office for Veterans and Victims of War (ONaC-VG), and veterans accompanied the EVIs in Agen. At the mess hall (restaurant and social venue of the regiment), exchanges and shared meals with the departmental general delegate, Jean-Jacques Béguer, facilitated the first contact with the young soldiers, mostly from central and western France.

At the Gaillard Cemetery, military sections from both World Wars were represented by departmental memory actors. The journey concluded at the canal bridge in front of the stars of Indochina, North Africa, and the Overseas Operations. A minute of silence was observed, recalling: “To us the memory, to them the immortality.”
