On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the CACEM (Communauté d’Agglomération du Centre de la Martinique) inaugurated its new term. Following the municipal elections, the 56 community officials came together to officially start the 2026-2032 period.

    An Election Without Surprises

Didier Laguerre was elected on Saturday as the president of the intercommunality, which includes the municipalities of Fort-de-France, Le Lamentin, Schoelcher, and Saint-Joseph.

This choice indeed follows the principle of rotating presidency historically established among the member municipalities. Didier Laguerre thus succeeds Luc-Louison Clément. The fifty-year-old expressed himself after his election:

“The CACEM is one of the beating hearts of Martinique. I hope that this term will allow us to meet the challenges of ecological transition, economic support, support for our youth, as well as mobility and transportation, which strongly disrupt the lives of the residents.”
