In 2006, did you refuse the LEC and CPE? Do you have memories? Participate in our collection!
Twenty years ago, hundreds of thousands of “young people” fought against the LEC (Equality of Opportunity law) and the CPE (First Employment Contract).
This fight, which lasted nearly two months, was victorious regarding its key measure “The First Employment Contract.” It was planned that people under 25 would undergo a two-year trial period.
The spearhead of the fight was located on the side of students, with blocked and occupied universities, but unemployed young people or young workers also joined them. The struggle was also supported by the inter-union of employees.
The fight was a turning point for Solidaires, which joined the inter-union at that time and sees its choice to have a student union as an internal entry as a strong point in the mobilization of students.
This struggle remains unknown and has not benefited from memorial moments.
The Solidaires trade union will organize an event around the CPE on Saturday, May 2, and an internal training in the fall.
To support this and internal and external reflections, we want to gather memorial material.
If you took part in the CPE as a union member, student, high school student, unemployed person, worker – send us your testimony! All forms are welcome: audio, written, drawing, or contact us by email for us to collect it orally.
And maybe you also kept some traces?
A leaflet? A sticker? A piece of pavement? A piece of lecture hall chair? A voting card from a GA or coordination meeting? A university journal? A slogan – Participate in the memorial collection around the CPE by sending a photo of this unlikely souvenir.
The rest will serve to fuel the history to be written about this struggle.
