The annual event, “Rendez-vous aux jardins,” has become essential for discovering the richness and diversity of parks and gardens. The event aims to showcase the art of gardens and landscape heritage to a wide audience, raise awareness about garden conservation, and pass on the skills related to their maintenance and enhancement.
The French Ministry of Culture invites the public to over 2,800 parks and gardens across France and Europe. During these three days, gardens open their doors sometimes exceptionally and organize numerous activities: educational workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, conferences, performances, and more.
“Celebrating the richness of gardens”
“Rendez-vous aux jardins” brings garden enthusiasts together every year with a common goal: to discover and share the living heritage of gardens. The label “Remarkable Garden” distinguishes gardens that have cultural, aesthetic, historical, or botanical significance, whether public or private.
Amateurs and professionals (gardeners, owners, landscapers, botanists, etc.) will engage with different audiences and share their passion for gardens and expertise.
The event, which will take place on Friday, June 5, is dedicated to students to familiarize them with the art of gardens through educational and fun activities.
This cultural and festive event aims to highlight the various actions of the Ministry in favor of garden study, conservation, restoration, maintenance, creation, and knowledge transfer.
“Rendez-vous aux jardins on the theme of sight”
Following the theme “The five senses in the garden” in 2024, the Ministry of Culture has chosen to explore this theme with each of the five senses. The theme for the 23rd edition is “The five senses in the garden: sight.”
Through this sensory perspective, visitors will be encouraged to look at landscapes, perspectives, colors, and plant compositions that shape gardens in a new light.
“A large-scale European event”
Since 2018, “Rendez-vous aux jardins” has gained a European dimension and now extends beyond French borders to celebrate the beauty and diversity of European gardens.
In 2025, over 650 gardens in 22 European countries opened their doors on the same dates and with a similar visual and theme chosen by the Ministry of Culture. Among the countries involved for several years: Germany, Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and more recently in 2025 Austria and Finland.
The national event benefits from the essential support of numerous institutional partners and media outlets that highlight a collective effort in service of celebrating the art of gardens and heritage.
