On Monday, April 6th, tensions escalated between the American head of state and Iranian officials. As Donald Trump’s ultimatum expires on Tuesday, April 7th, he has already threatened Iran. The Iranian spokesperson has called these statements “blatant and arrogant rhetoric.”

The conflict in the Middle East has been ongoing for 39 days, with American-Israeli bombings leading to the death of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The tension between Donald Trump and Iranian officials continues to rise.

On Sunday, April 5th, on his social network Truth Social, the American head of state criticized the Iranian officials: “Open that damn strait, you bunch of lunatics, or you will go to hell.” On Monday, April 6th, the American president held a press conference where he stated that “the entire Iran could be destroyed in a single night, and that night could be tomorrow.”

These threats, related to the ultimatum issued to the Iranian government to reach a ceasefire agreement by Tuesday, April 7th, did not go unanswered. According to reports, the spokesperson for Khatam Al-Anbiya, the command of the Iranian armed forces, stated that “the blatant and arrogant rhetoric, as well as the baseless threats of the American president who is in a deadlock and justifying the successive defeats of the American army, have no effect on the continuation of the offensive and overwhelming operations.”

Furthermore, Donald Trump has specifically threatened to target bridges and power plants in Iran if the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic gateway for global trade where 20% of the world’s oil consumption passes through, was not unblocked. On Monday, April 6th, new American-Israeli bombardments on Iranian power facilities were reported. When questioned by a journalist on this issue, Donald Trump assured that he was “not worried” about the risk of committing war crimes.
