Kiev proposes an energy truce to Moscow through American mediators, announces Zelensky
Ukraine has submitted to Russia, through American mediators, a proposal for a truce on strikes targeting the energy infrastructure of both countries, said its president on Monday. “If Russia is willing to stop hitting our energy sector, we are ready to do the same. And this proposal from us – conveyed by the Americans – has been communicated to the Russian side,” said Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address.
Multiple injuries in the city of Nikopol
Monday morning, the city of Nikopol, located in the Dnipropetrovsk oblast, was targeted by Russian drone attacks. According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanja, four women were injured and several buildings, as well as a pharmacy, suffered damages.
Later in the day, new strikes hit the city, this time with artillery. Three more people were injured, including a one-and-a-half-year-old girl. Several private homes and residential buildings were also damaged.
Russia announces suspension of talks with Ukrainians under US auspices
The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced on Monday, April 6, the suspension of peace negotiations with Ukraine. “It is difficult to organize talks in a trilateral format because the Americans have many other things to manage, if you know what I mean,” said Dmitry Peskov to the media. American negotiators are expected to be in Kiev after Orthodox Easter celebrated on April 12.
