The American president is blowing hot and cold on Iran, who seems to be ignoring his threats. The missing pilot was exfiltrated, a special operation around which the two countries are engaging in a war of narratives.

Six weeks after the start of the war, Donald Trump continues to vacillate on Iran throughout this Sunday. After estimating to Fox News that there are “good chances” of reaching an agreement this Monday, he promised two hours later to “blow everything up” down there. On his social network Truth Social, he then postponed his ultimatum by 24 hours, now set for “Tuesday, 8 p.m. EST,” while declaring to the Wall Street Journal that “if they do nothing, they will have no power plants left and no bridge will stand.”

“These about-faces do not seem to shake Iran. The powerful president of the Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned the American president that the whole region would “burn” because of his actions. “Your reckless actions are leading the United States into a real hell for every family, and our whole region will burn because you insist on following Netanyahu’s orders,” he wrote. Several oil installations in Kuwait were also hit earlier by Iranian drone attacks, causing significant damage.

This day was also marked by the rescue of the American pilot, whose F-15E fighter-bomber was shot down on Friday over Iran and who had been hiding in a crevasse since then. Donald Trump applauded this exfiltration, “one of the boldest operations in U.S. history,” which mobilized special forces and “dozens of aircraft.” Iran claims the destruction of four of these aircraft, which Washington says were destroyed to prevent them from falling into Iranian hands. A war is also being fought on the narrative.
