Troops from the Operation Enduring Peace of the Nigerian Army have eliminated three terrorists and arrested two individuals who were trying to set fire to residential buildings in Plateau State. A statement released on Friday by Captain Chinonso Oteh, the Media Information Officer, revealed that the operation was carried out in Dutse Uku, located in the Jos North Local Government Area.

The statement explained that the troops responded to a distress call about gunfire in the Dutse Uku area, where they intercepted and apprehended two individuals who were pretending to be security operatives. These impostors were dressed in black tactical uniforms and were involved in burning down homes and instigating violence within the community.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody, while two people who were injured in the incident have been taken to a medical facility for treatment and are in stable condition. The statement emphasized that these arrests refute recent allegations of military involvement in the unrest in Jos North, showing that the crimes attributed to official personnel are actually being carried out by criminals in misleading uniforms to cause chaos and tarnish the reputation of the Armed Forces.

In a further operation in Karem, Wase Local Government Area, the troops confronted a large group of terrorists travelling on motorcycles, resulting in the death of three criminals. This successful operation was part of the strategic deployment of additional troops ordered by the Chief of Army Staff to enhance counter-terrorism efforts.

The statement concluded by highlighting the Army’s commitment to eliminating threats to public peace and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the authorities.
