Mêlant theatre, circus, and dance, “Who are we?” by Baro d’Evel explores collective identity through a visual approach centered on ceramics and clay. Led by about ten performers, this choral piece offers a sensory experience, praised at the Avignon Festival 2024, and for four nights at the Domaine d’O.
After two cars and a horse, ceramics take the stage at the Domaine d’O thanks to the Agora de la danse with “Who are we?”, a show with visual elements by the Toulousians of Baro d’Evel. The title is in Catalan and means “Who are we?” The question is thus posed. In a world that seems to be losing its humanity, it is essential to ask ourselves what we want to do together.
Supported by about ten other performers from dance, theater, and circus, Blaï Mateu Trias and Camille Decourtye invite us to disconnect in order to truly reconnect, by looking at each other, for example. Together, they embody a choral quest in which the set design evokes ceramics and clay as living materials.
The scenes unfold, intense and changing, fueled by artistic innovation and an energy that is both fragile and powerful, blending circus (the company’s origin), dance, song, and humor. The focus is not so much on answering the central question as it is on collectively experiencing it. A show applauded at the Avignon Festival 2024.
