Donald Trump will address the American nation about Iran, announced White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday, March 31. “Tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 1), at 9 PM, President Trump will address the nation to provide new important information about Iran,” she wrote. The speech of the American president can therefore be followed starting at 3 AM, Paris time, on Thursday, April 2.
He will speak just over a month after the start of the war initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Donald Trump has spoken out multiple times, sometimes criticizing his NATO partners, claiming victory over Iran several times, and even complaining that there is no successor to Ayatollah Khamenei, after targeting key officials of the Tehran regime.
An agreement with Tehran “is no longer important”
On Tuesday, he claimed that the war would be over within two or three weeks, asserting that the Strait of Hormuz, blocked since early March with major consequences for the global economy, was no longer his problem.
“We will be leaving very soon. And if France or another country wants to have their oil or gas, they can go straight through the Strait of Hormuz and figure it out for themselves. I think it will be a very safe place in reality, but we have nothing to do with that,” said Donald Trump.
He had already stated earlier in the day that the United States “will no longer be there to help” countries whose oil supply depends on this strategic strait, blocked by Iran since the beginning of the conflict.
Regarding a possible agreement with the Tehran regime, it “is no longer important”: “We will leave, whether there is an agreement or not. It doesn’t matter anymore. It is possible that we will reach an agreement, as they want to achieve it.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserts that the operation against Iran is not over. “We will continue to crush the terrorist regime, strengthen security zones around us, and achieve our goals,” he said in a televised address.
